People do not understand the animal kingdom

 

The dog scratches the glass door

 

The cat meows as he walks across the floor

 

Do they enjoy the company

 

Of me, of you, and everybody

 

Are we just a means to and end

 

Food, drink, shelter, the ultimate stipend

 

Friendship, Love, Do they enter the equation?

For the dog, yes, but the cat, only on occasion.
