A trip to the Amusement Park

Two worlds, each having their own start, Manitou brings together two civilizations that would otherwise only scrape at the surface of the other.  Despite the differences the start of this town can be seen in its name "Manitou Springs".

This is another example of how water is the building block of life.  It courses through our bodies, and we build civilizations around it.  Every drop has made a long journey, and perhaps by chance or maybe fate, those drops and I are here at the same moment.  Unlike those drops of water, my path is not clear.

Unknowingly, these individuals are here by the city forged years ago.  Although they are brought in by the allure of sustenance, they will likely see the unique cityscape as they return home.  It is so interesting to think of the lives others live.  To me it is bewildering to think that of all places and times, their life and mine have led to this moment where we are in the same location.

Aside from those individuals sitting down for a meal or drink, the people of Manitou often provide more than enough entertainment.  While walking the streets I saw henna artists, fortune tellers, and the occasional person smoking what was most certainly not a cigarette.  I believe that people are truly unique, and serve as the best stories, but many individuals have left their mark on Manitou Springs.  The art and culture of this small town leaves its mark on all of its visitors.

When viewing all works of art I like to think of the time and effort that someone put into them.  Each person takes their own meaning from the works, and the artist has little to no control of this.  As public works of art these pieces add to the whimsical culture that is Manitou.  So many people go there to take time out of their lives, and just get away.  These pieces of art aid those individuals in distracting themselves from whatever other thoughts might invade their mind.

Manitou Springs serves as a persons amusement park for the mind, and each person will find a way to get on board.
