Tejon Street Photographic Narrative

Savory Spice Shop

Exploring the atmosphere and aromas at the Savory Spice Shop on Tejon Street was a delicious experience of local small business success.  Countless herbs, spices, and tasty combinations can be found and sampled here at Savory Spice. There is something for everyone, from the spice savvy to the "seasoned" pro.

Copious amounts of all different styles of salt frequent the shelves.  My favorite is the French Fleur de Sel which adds a warm aroma and chunky texture along with its beautifully classic coloring.  From classics, to newly found Himalayan Pink salts, all can be found here.

Beautifully smelling trials are waiting to be wafted in to the air.  Bringing scents of Amaretto, Anise, and Vanilla each distinct smell is sure to enact a trip down memory lane.

One of my favorite non-spice items at Savory was the locally produced honey.  Beeyond The Hive Honey is a great example of how one small business is supporting another small business in Colorado.  A sense of comradery fills the air as you taste local honey in a local venue.

The most potent chilies frequent Savory Spice. Beautiful colors also reveal a great danger...these peppers are HOT!
Fudge and caramel: How could you go wrong? Another favorite here, and also more local products that show the true heart of Savory Spice.  Delicious sweet fudge mixed with salted caramel, offering the best of both delicious worlds.
Delicious samplings!  Do not disregard the caution note...the Ghost Sauce is indeed VERY hot!
A spectacular way Savory adds spices to the unexpected. This popcorn is a non-traditionalist and spice lovers dream!
Savory Spice  goes back to roots offering what looks to be prehistoric tools for spice grinding.

The giant barrels of cinnamon sticks instantly grab your attention. Simply lift the lid and be whisked away to Christmas time with the warm and inviting aroma of Cinnamon.
A new spin on the sustenance of life.  This freeze dried corn is a scrumptious snack!

Savory offers much more to its visitors than just being a spice shop.  Recipe cards can be found littered all around the store, offering pointers of how to use their spices in unconventional and innovative ways.

Savory Spice Shop, located in the heart of Tejon Street, is an alluring and quaint shop offering much more than just spices.  Walking in to Savory Spice, you are transported down memory lane with hundreds of different aromas filling the air.  Barrels of cinnamon sticks, jars of every beautiful color of salt imaginable, a plethora of chili spices, and beyond all add to the specialty of Savory Spice. Weather it be taking you back in time, or learning new recipes and exploring new taste remedies Savory is a true gem.  Even better, Savory Spice is a small business with local owners that offer many local products like Beeyond The Hive Honey.  With an atmosphere so homey and inviting it's no wonder Savory is a staple among the spice savvy as well as the common shopper in Colorado Springs. In Savory Spice, you feel like you are truly at home with the friendly staff and the owners working along side them.  Savory Spice Shop is one that adds a very special flavor to downtown Colorado Springs.
