Manitou Springs

Manitou Springs Assignment

Manitou Springs is a small town nestled in Colorado at the foothills of Pikes Peak. The exquisite character and temperament of Manitou is energizing. Manitou Springs residents are laid back and live a relax lifestyle. This small close nit community is filled with art work and shops as you walk through Main Street. Manitou Springs has elegant restaurants for dinning out. If you just want to get away for a couple of nights Manitou has Bed and Breakfast tucked away. Manitou has an amazing Penny Arcade center that the family can play old games for hours. You can even get your fortune told in the Penny Arcade. The Manitou incline starts where the old Pikes Peak Cog Railway Station used to run. It is also the trail-head for Barr Trail for those climbing Pikes Peak. The Incline course is a simple straight shot up. The Incline is roughly .8 miles as you climb 2000 feet in altitude. The Incline surface is gravel with railroad ties at regular intervals. This used to be the Cog Railway bed. The rails were removed but the ties were left in place. There has been some shoring up and rearranging of the ties to combat erosion over the years since the Cog Railway was removed. The ties have help prevent any major erosion. Manitou Springs is also well known for the Healing Mineral Springs. The founder of Manitou Springs Dr. William A. Bell developed Manitou around the Mineral Springs. The Mineral Springs made Manitou a must destination for tourist that longed for a healthier lifestyle.
