I wake to a glimpse of sunlight
filtering through the drapes
she starts to awaken
her restless eyes open
and there I am
My "meow" accompanies a head butt
and soon follows my rough tongue
licking her cheeks, her nose, and forehead
purring louder and louder
it is time to wake up
She pats at me gently
"Malakai it's too early"
but I am relentless
my stomach growls and groans
I am hungry
I begin to gently slide my claws
over her neck
alas she sits up
I run to my dish and "meow" even louder
until I hear the sweet sounds of kibbles
echoing in my bowl.
